Why ADAS Calibration Matters

A sensor or camera can be out of position without a visible warning light. Small changes in vehicle height, thrust angle, windshield camera position, bumper alignment, or sensor mounting can affect how the vehicle interprets distance, lane markings, obstacles, and traffic.

  • Helps restore system operation to manufacturer specifications.
  • Supports proper operation of lane, braking, radar, and camera systems.
  • Improves repair documentation for body shops and insurers.
  • Reduces the risk of delivering a vehicle with incomplete safety-system repairs.

How it works

Our Calibration Process

1. Identify Systems

We review the vehicle, scan data, repair order, and relevant OEM requirements.

2. Prepare the Vehicle

We verify conditions such as tire pressure, alignment status, ride height, fuel and load requirements, and the target setup area.

3. Calibrate & Document

We perform required calibration steps and provide documentation for your repair file.

Why shops call us

What You Can Count On

A new name locally, run by someone who has done this work for years elsewhere. Here is what that means in practice.

The OEM Procedure, Every Time

We look up and follow the manufacturer's published procedure for the specific vehicle in front of us — not a generic routine.

Scans Included, Not Extra

Pre-scan and post-scan come with the calibration. You get the reports, the codes, and a record of what was performed for the repair file.

The Vehicle Stays With You

We come to your facility. No sublet, no shuttling a customer's car across town, no days added to your cycle time.

We Tell You If It Doesn't Need One

If the procedure does not call for a calibration, we say so. You are not paying for work the vehicle does not require.

Static and Dynamic, In House

Target-based and road-test procedures both, including vehicles that need the two performed together to complete the repair.

Owner-Operated

Colonial Calibrations, established 2026 in Williamsburg. Independently owned and locally run.

Common questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Will a warning light always show when calibration is needed?

No. A vehicle may require calibration after certain repairs even when no warning light is currently displayed.

Do all vehicles require the same calibration?

No. Requirements vary by vehicle, system type, trim package, repair procedure, and equipment installed.

Can a wheel alignment affect ADAS?

It can. Thrust angle and ride height are inputs to how forward-facing sensors aim, so alignment and suspension work often trigger a calibration requirement.

Can you come to my shop?

Yes. Colonial Calibrations is designed to support collision centers, glass shops, dealerships, fleets, and repair facilities with mobile service options.

Do you provide documentation?

Yes. Documentation can include scan reports, calibration records, notes, and supporting photos depending on the job.
